FAQs
This is what sets BlueHub apart from other services. We have over 80 specialist clinicians that are experienced in working with emergency service workers, particularly policing and defence. This means that in your sessions you can focus on talking about what is going on with you, rather than having to explain what your job and policing actually is.
There are several payment options that may help cover the cost of treatment through BlueHub, including WorkCover, Medicare, private health insurance, or other entitlements you may be eligible for. The TPAV BlueHub team can talk you through the available options and help you find the most suitable pathway based on your circumstances.
See the Costs and Funding page for more information.
Once your mental health claim is submitted, you're immediately eligible for provisional payments, which provides you with 13 weeks of fully-funded treatment, regardless of the claim’s final outcome. TPAV can assist you with the WorkCover process and help guide you through each step.
The average waiting time to be connected to a clinician is 1-2 weeks. Please be aware that this can vary slightly depending on clinician availability and your preferences. We’ll endeavour to assign a clinician to you as soon as possible and will be in contact with you throughout the process to provide updates and information.
How regularly you see your BlueHub clinician will be determined on a case-by-case basis, specific to you and your needs; it can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly. Your clinician will discuss this with you in your first few sessions.
Recovery is rarely a linear journey. There may be moments when things feel heavier before they begin to lighten—that's a normal part of processing difficult experiences that may have been carried for a long time. Our clinicians are here to support you at your own pace, ensuring you feel safe and cared for throughout the process.
Every clinician is different, and sometimes the clinician you’re assigned to might not be the best fit. Your first few appointments are a chance for you to see how comfortable you feel with your clinician. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, that’s okay— reach out to the TPAV BlueHub team, and we’ll be happy to help you find someone who’s a better match.
Yes, many people with PTSD do return to work—and thrive. It’s important to understand that recovery isn’t about rushing back; it’s about recovering in a way that supports your long-term wellbeing and safety. There’s no set schedule for when you should go back to work, this is individual to you.
